 Tendencias de la descentralización en América Latina

This article investigates the centrifugal and centripetal tendencies of the decentralization in Latin America and the mutation or transformation of federalism and federal State types as well as the centralism and the unitary State types. The article investigates four paradigmatic unitary States: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru and four federal States (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela). The article adopts comparative methodology and offers an overview on the so called “area-study”, in particular, explaining the transformations and the trends of the Latin American area.
