 Le elezioni federali canadesi del 2021: tra vecchie distorsioni «elettorali» e nuovi scenari per l'espressione del voto

Abstract [It]: Le 44esime elezioni federali hanno consegnato la terza vittoria consecutiva, seppur non di misura, al Liberal Party guidato da Justin Trudeau. Si tratta di un risultato elettorale interessante, principalmente, per due ragioni: per un verso, esso ha confermato le potenzialità distorsive del sistema elettorale maggioritario a turno unico; per altro verso, ha evidenziato il crescente ricorso ai sistemi di voto postale e anticipato, in un contesto – qual è quello canadese – in cui le modalità di espressione del voto alternative alle urne elettorali (es. voto elettronico) sono in costante aumento.

 

Abstract [En]: The 44th federal election delivered the third consecutive victory to the Liberal Party led by Justin Trudeau, although it was not a landslide victory. This is an interesting electoral result for two reasons: on one the hand, it confirmed the distorting potential of the single-round majority electoral system; on the other hand, it highlighted the growing use of postal and early voting systems, in a context – such as the Canadian one – in which the methods of expressing the vote alternatives to the electoral polls (i.e. e-voting) are constantly increasing.
