La Corte Suprema estende al convivente non coniugato il diritto a ricevere il trattamento pensionistico di reversibilità (Widowed Parent’s Allowance, prestazione sociale erogata al superstite con figli indipendentemente dal reddito), ritenendo che la previsione legislativa di tale beneficio per il solo superstite coniugato o partner di un’unione civile costituisca una discriminazione sulla base dello stato civile del convivente e dei figli, in contrasto con il divieto di discriminazione, il diritto alla vita privata e familiare e il diritto di proprietà (artt. 14, 8 e 1, Protocollo n. 1, Cedu).
